Ice Lakes, Campsite Day 3
Backpacking in the Popo Agie Wilderness In late summer 2003, John and I took a respite from our jobs and, in the company of 4 friends, headed west to Wyoming for adventure. Two weeks before our departure we were ticketed for a flight to Calgary and looking forward to a spectacular Canadian Rockies backpack in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park and Kootenay National Park. But our seven months of planning had gone up in smoke with the wildfires of 2003 (see pre-trip journal) and we were on to something new. During the two week period it took us to change our flights, an adventure to the Wind River Range was born. Much thanks to friend Roger Jenkins (visit his website at www.twohikers.org) who went into his vast hiking files and pulled out our adventure and to Will Skelton, friend and trip companion who did most of the Wyoming trip planning and map detailing. This website is divided into several parts 1) a Canadian pre-trip planning journal up to cancellation 2) a daily journal of the Wyoming trip with our favorite photos 3) a pack list and backpack food that we carried 4) a list of our travel expenses and 5) a photo gallery..
